23-year-old Francisco Garcia was charged with aggravated assault after strangling and threatening his wife in the parking lot of her apartment complex.

On August 21st, officers were dispatched to 5319 Nolensville Pike where they met with Lidia Lopez in the parking lot who appeared very distressed. She explained that she and her husband, Francisco Garcia, had gotten into a physical quarrel. She told officers he had called and asked her to come out to the parking lot, but when she got out to the parking lot she found him kissing another woman. She claimed Garcia walked up to her, pushed her, and punched her head leaving a large lump. Lopez told officers her husband then tried to grab for the keys in her hand causing a shuffle in which the keys made two cuts to the right side of her face.

Garcia then grabbed her throat, strangling her with both hands until she lost consciousness. After Lopez lost consciousness Garcia let go, saying “I want to see you dead. I am not afraid of police. It would be worth it.” Once she regained consciousness, Lopez ran back to the apartment in an attempt to escape, but Garcia followed, pulling her hair until he heard police sirens. Garcia ran and hid behind an adjoining apartment building.

Francisco Garcia was arrested and charged with aggravated assault by strangulation. His bond was set at $25,000.
