49-year-old Christopher Murray was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and aggravated rape after picking a woman up in his van to “give her a ride” and forcing her to perform oral sex.
On August 9th, a man in the Plus Park Boulevard area called dispatch to report a female screaming for help near his home. When officers came into the area, a man flagged them down and pointed them toward the female he believed to need help. She explained that she was working in the area and got a room at the Rodeway Inn after mechanical issues with her vehicle. That morning she walked down Murfreesboro Pike to a gas station to buy a pack of cigarettes. On her way back a red minivan, driven by Christopher Murray slowed next to her and asked if she needed a ride. She got into the vehicle and told him where she was staying. He initially started driving in the correct direction but turned down Plus Park Boulevard. Murray asked if she was a prostitute, and when she answered no he became quiet. The van came to a stop behind Primera Iglesia Bautista at 245 Plus Park Boulevard and Murray immediately pulled out a black-handled kitchen knife putting it to her throat. He grabbed her Motorola phone from her hand and told her she was going to give him head.
Murray forced his genitals into her mouth and penetrated her vagina with his fingers, ripping off her underpants even as she begged to stop. Murray ejaculated in her mouth and then told her to get out of the vehicle slowly. He acted as though he was going to return her phone, but as soon as she got out he sped off. She could only remember that the license plate may have been from Alabama. After reviewing the footage provided by Primera Iglesia Bautista, officers concluded the vehicle was a red Kia Sedona minivan with a Tennessee tag and an Alabama Football vanity plate.
They were also able to see the victim getting out of the vehicle and it speeding off. The victim depicted her aggressor as a heavy-set white male with a buzz cut, a New York accent, and a tattoo on his left forearm/wrist. After investigating police determined the van belonged to Christopher Murray of 1005 Reelfoot Court. Murray fits the description, including the forearm tattoo, and the van also fits the description to include three stickers in the rear window. The victim was able to positively identify Murray from a photo lineup.
Christopher Murray was arrested and charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, and aggravated rape. His bond was set at $200,000.
