33-year-old Thomas Shack was charged with domestic assault after attacking his girlfriend in the back of his car and driving her to a park where she finally escaped and fled to a nearby house to call the police.

On August 6th, officers were dispatched to a domestic dispute between Latia Holt and her boyfriend Thomas Shack. Officers spoke to Latia upon arrival and she advised that Thomas picked her up from work and began asking her questions about her ex-boyfriend who worked with her. Thomas was enraged by the response that she gave and pulled the vehicle over near the intersection of Eastland Avenue and Chapel Road. Thomas proceeded to strangle her with one hand as he pushed her into the back seat of the vehicle.

He then slapped Latia multiple times resulting in a cut on her bottom lip. Latia advised that after the attack, he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back into the front seat. Then he drove to the entrance of Shelby Park located at 17th Avenue South and Sevier Street. Latia stated that once they arrived, Thomas parked the car, got out, and walked around the car towards her door. She took that opportunity to escape and run to the nearest house and call 911. Thomas fled the scene before officers arrived.

On August 10th, Thomas Shack was arrested and charged with domestic assault and his bond was set at $2,500.
