28-year-old Tyler Eskridge was charged with drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license, and implied consent after striking two vehicles while driving the wrong direction down Nolensville Pike.

On August 23rd, officers responded to a call for service at 3940 Apache Trail. Metro Nashville Communications received a witness call stating there was a man, Tyler Eskridge, driving erratically on Nolensville Pike. The witness was able to capture cell phone video which showed Eskridge driving on the wrong side of the road and swerving, unable to maintain one lane of traffic. Eskridge eventually hit two other vehicles before pulling into the parking lot of Mapco at 4190 Nolensville Pike to assess the damage to his vehicle.

The witness attempted to make contact with Eskridge, but he quickly got back into his vehicle and fled the scene. He then made his way to 3490 Apache Trail and drove his vehicle into the grass near the apartment complex. When officers arrived Eskridge was still in the vehicle, keys in the ignition, and engine running. He was asked to exit the vehicle and when he did was unsteady, stumbling, and falling over. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered in which Eskridge showed several indicators of impairment.

Officers searched the vehicle and found five needles which Eskridge said he had because he’s a “Type A” diabetic. He was read the Defendant Tennessee Implied Consent and refused to provide a sample of his blood. Officers suspected that Eskridge was under the influence of a narcotic due to his difficulties walking, rapid speech, and repetitive questions. Nashville Fire Department Medics arrived at the scene and gave medical clearance as his blood sugar levels were within normal levels as was his blood pressure.

Tyler Eskridge was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicant, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, implied consent, and driving on a suspended license. His bond was set at $4,000.
