53-year-old Ronald Jackson was charged with vandalism after a box fan was smashed through the back window of his ex-wife’s car during an argument and he then fled the scene.
On July 30th, officers were dispatched to 1406 Elliston Street to investigate a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers observed that Misty Jackson’s vehicle had a shattered rear window. A large box fan was laying in the backseat and the power cord was dangling out the back window. Misty advised officers that she had come to the location to drop off tools with her ex-husband Ronald Jackson. She stated that Ronald had become angry with her and threw the box fan through the back window before he fled the scene.
Misty explained to officers that she and Ronald had purchased the vehicle while they were married, but she had his name removed from the registration and had told him he was no longer allowed to use it. Officers verified the registration was solely in Misty’s name. Due to Misty and Ronald no longer living together, and him not having regular rights or access to the vehicle, police determined that charges could be pressed for vandalism.
Misty requested that officers to prosecute on her behalf because she needed to get her window fixed and wouldn’t be able to right away. Officers were able to overhear Ronald while he was on the phone with her saying that he did not break the window, but if she brought the vehicle to him he would fix it. Officers were not able to speak with Ronald at that time.
Ronald Jackson was arrested and charged with vandalism. His bond was set at $2,500.
