20-year-old Narquan Stephens was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after firing shots at his mother when she tried to commandeer the car she loaned him.
On August 5th, Laquinta Thomas entrusted her 2012 Chevrolet Malibu to her son, Narquan Stephens. She went to his home at 2600 Solon Drive to retrieve her vehicle and got into a verbal disagreement with Stephens’ girlfriend in the middle of the road. Laquinta got into her car to leave in an attempt to deescalate the situation.
As she was driving away, Stephens ran toward the road with a handgun. He shot at the vehicle three times and at least one of the rounds penetrated the passenger side taillight. Laquinta retreated to 1800 Stratford Avenue, Stratford STEM Magnet High School, and called the police.
Narquan Stephens was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $60,000.
