27-year-old Marquise Hill was charged with aggravated robbery when the man he met to trade a gun for an iPad decided he wasn’t interested, prompting Hill and an associate to instead rob the man with the weapon.

On August 3rd, Marquise Hill scheduled a meeting to trade with William Gillespie at the Hampton Inn Hotel at 5630 Franklin Pike Circle. Gillespie was contacted by Hill on a private sales website to trade an iPad for a 9mm Fx9.

Hill contacted Gillespie from cell phone number (901) 609-6738 and when they met up, Hill showed him the weapon unloaded. Gillespie then told Hill that he was not interested in the trade. Hill then loaded the weapon and pointed it at him. Hill’s unidentified associate took Gillespie’s wallet, the iPad, and truck keys. Police verified that the phone number was registered to Hill and Gillespie positively identified Hill in a photo line up.

Marquise Hill was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $150,000 bond.
