Woman found dead at car accident; driver flees on foot and turns himself in the next day

38-year-old Kenneth Patton was charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident when police found the passenger of a car accident deceased. The driver fled the scene on foot and turned himself in the next day.

On August 3rd, close to midnight on Buchanan Street near 16th Avenue North police responded to a fatal crash where a Kia Optima had hit a utility pole. The only individual in the vehicle was Alicia Pride in the passenger seat who needed immediate CPR upon arrival.

She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased. The defendant and driver of the vehicle, Kenneth Patton, fled from the scene on foot before the police had arrived. The next day, he turned himself into custody where he was interviewed and admitted to being the driver at the time of the incident. His license was revoked at the time of the accident as well.

Kenneth Patton was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with a death, failure to give information, failure to comply, and driving on a revoked license. His bond was set at $27,000.
