Year-long search comes to close: Man who tried to steal over $5,000 from employer found

47-year-old Darin Humphrey was charged with theft of property when he was entrusted by his employer to pick up and drop off cars with the last run being from Florida to Nashville. He ran off with company cash, tools, and checks instead.

On July 26th, 2019, police arrived at 705 Rivergate Parkway to speak to Sam Pascala who was the victim of a theft. He said that he hired the defendant Darin Humphrey to deliver and pick up vehicles across the country.

This last run that he was scheduled to do began in Florida and ended in Nashville. Pascala stated that Humphrey abandoned the delivery truck and trailer at the address police were called. Humphrey stole several company checks as well as cash receipts that accumulated to $2,430. Also, he stole about $140 worth of tools from the work truck and $1,925 in checks from car companies in Florida. The process to cancel the checks was already underway, Pascala stated.

On August 20th, Darin Humphrey was arrested and charged with theft of property. His bond was set at $5,000.
