37-year-old Troy Johnson was charged with two counts of domestic assault after arguments with his girlfriend led her to defend herself with a potato peeler and left her with scratches.

On July 25th, a Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) Officer was flagged down at a gas station by Canesha Johnson who told the officer that her boyfriend, Troy Johnson, was threatening her. Canesha said that she and Troy were in an argument because he took her phone while she was trying to leave. Troy saw Canesha on Facebook and began to threaten her, saying “I’m going to beat your ass.”

Troy slapped the phone out of her hand and started pushing her chest. Canesha went to the kitchen and grabbed a potato peeler to defend herself. Canesha was able to escape and drove to the nearest gas station where she found an officer at the pump. Troy followed her and saw her speaking with the officer, so he handed Canesha her phone.

On September 17th, MNPD Officer Ricki Armstrong responded to a domestic disturbance, again involving the couple. Canesha had visible scratches on her arms that she claims were made by Troy. He was taken into custody after police verified he had a warrant for his assault in July.

On September 17th, Troy Johnson was arrested and charged with two counts of domestic assault. His bond was set at $2,500.
