Jackson man leads police on chase down Murfreesboro Pike

45-year-old Derrick Houssel was charged with evading arrest, reckless driving, driving on revoked, and theft after he fled from officers on Murfreesboro Pike and attempted to escape by walking into a hotel.

On September 17th, Metro Nashville Officers were near 2723 Murfreesboro Pike and ran the tag of a maroon Nissan Versa which came back to authorities as stolen. Once the vehicle was confirmed stolen, officers activated their blue lights and gave verbal commands to Derrick Houssel to stop and show his hands. Houssel ignored the police, stepped into his vehicle, and proceeded to drive at a high rate of speed on Murfreesboro Pike. A police helicopter tracked Houssel’s movement through the city and observed him run multiple red lights including the intersection of Murfreesboro Pike and Briley Parkway.

Houssel was seen entering the HomeTowne Studios Nashville parking lot, 1210 Murfreesboro Pike, and when he and his passenger exited the vehicle authorities gave verbal commands to stop. Houssel walked into the hotel, and officers followed. He was taken into custodial arrest, and a review of his ID showed that he was driving on a revoked license.

On September 17th, Derrick Houssel was arrested and charged with evading arrest, reckless driving, driving on revoked, and theft. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $21,500 bond.
