The vehicle was driving around in circles in the Rescue Mission parking lot until police lost sight of it. Seconds later they found the car and arrested the man sitting in the front passenger seat. That man told officers the driver had exited the vehicle and was standing a few feet away from the officers. The passenger pointed out Tarvellies and advised officers he was the driver. Hancock admitted to taking the vehicle from a family member of his boyfriend in Hopkinsville, then drove it to Nashville.

Hancock Tarvellies was arrested and charged with theft of a vehicle. His bond was set at $10,000.
