Man jailed after mental health staff say he became enraged over a hatchet and destroyed an intercom

27-year-old Zebariah Hall was charged with vandalism after being discharged from a mental health facility for behavior. The staff would not release his hatchet to him and he became so infuriated that he broke their intercom box with a drumstick.

On September 1st, Metro Nashville Officers responded to a report of vandalism. When officers arrived they first made contact with Mental Health Cooperative staff who advised Zebariah Hall had been discharged due to his behavior.

During discharge, he became enraged at the facility employees for not returning his hatchet. An employee told Hall he would call the police for safety reasons before returning it and asked Hall to wait outside. Hall was still extremely upset outside and security footage showed him striking the intercom box multiple times with a drumstick. The system was rendered inoperable and repair was estimated at $1,000.

Zebariah Hall was arrested and charged with vandalism. He is jailed in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
