Mother tells police she took a Xanax after driving through fence and smashing 2 parked cars

29-year-old Jessica Augustine was charged with DUI and reckless endangerment after she was found unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle with her four-year-old child after it plowed through a fence and hit two parked cars.

On September 10th at around 8 a.m., Metro Nashville Police arrived at the scene of a car accident where Jessica Augustine had left the roadway at Manzano Road and Mallow Road. She plowed through a fence and struck two parked cars causing heavy damage to the front end of her husband’s vehicle. Officers found Augustine unconscious in the running vehicle with her 4-year-old child.

When contact was made with Augustine she was unsteady on her feet with slurred speech. Unable to recollect the events, she stated that she had taken a Xanax earlier in the day. Officers found multiple pills that were not prescribed to her, a piece of paper with white powder in it located inside the door handle, a small blue baggie of white powder as well as drug paraphernalia. She was transported to Skyline Medical Center where a blood draw was conducted. A drug evaluation by Sergeant Williams determined she was intoxicated while operating the vehicle. The child did not sustain injuries and was relinquished into the custody of the father.

Jessica Augustine was arrested and charged with DUI and reckless endangerment. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $3,500 bond.
