23-year-old Emily Swafford was charged with driving under the influence after she told police that she had two glasses of wine when she was pulled over for driving with no lights and could not answer basic questions.

On September 23rd, Emily Swafford was stopped at a green traffic light at the intersection of Nolensville Pike and Harding Place with her lights off and appeared to be on her cellphone. When she saw Metro Park Police Officer Adamberger’s patrol vehicle next to her she began to drive off. At this time the officer conducted a traffic stop, during which he reported that Swafford had difficulty answering basic questions. She could not answer where she was coming from, where she was going, or her address.

Swafford was able to tell Officer Adamberger that she had two glasses of wine after he noticed that she smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech. She was then asked to perform a field sobriety test and showed indicators of impairment so Swafford was breathalyzed and showed a .156 blood alcohol content (BAC). We reached out to Swafford who told us that she had been out with her friends before she was pulled over.

Emily Swafford was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. Her bond was set at $2,500.
