19-year-old Richard Najera was charged with vandalism after he lured his ex-girlfriend outside and smashed the back windshield of her Jeep in front of her because she was allegedly cheating on him.
On September 17th, Richard Najera showed up to his ex-girlfriend, Viviana Cela’s, house with a hammer and made his way to the back of the residence where her 2011 gray Jeep Liberty was parked. He told her he had a “gift for her” over the phone to get her outside. When she came out to see what was going on Richard took the hammer and struck the back windshield of her Jeep multiple times until it shattered.
Cela and her mother attempted to pull Richard away from the vehicle but were unable to do so. They eventually pulled him away from the vehicle and calmed him down before he smashed all of the other windows. Richard then walked back to his vehicle and waited. When police arrived he did not try to run and admitted to breaking her window because she had been cheating on him. The damage to the vehicle was approximately $500.
Richard Najera was arrested and charged with vandalism. His bond was set at $1,000.
