U-Haul renter charged after hitting parking garage lift gate and fleeing to Colorado

30-year-old Nicholas Price was charged with vandalism after damaging a Bank of America lift gate and two cars in their parking garage. He then fled to Grand Junction, Colorado.

On February 22nd, 2019, Jack Murray, the account manager for the Bank of America building located at 222 2nd Avenue South, noticed at U-Haul truck parked on the sidewalk on Molloy Street. As Jack inspected the vehicle, he noticed a U-Haul rental agreement. Jack investigated further and through his connections with the U-Haul company, he discovered the renter was Nicholas Price. Jack requested it to be towed and shortly after the truck was gone.

Later that day security staff were notified that a U-Haul truck that was parked in their parking garage had broken through the liftgate and hit two vehicles in the process. As police investigated the incident, they made contact with U-Haul officials. They found out that Price rented the U-Haul in Nashville and returned the truck in Grand Junction, Colorado. Further investigation revealed the U-Haul suffered cosmetic damages to the front and rear of the truck. The estimated cost of the damage to the Bank of America liftgate was $4,311.

On September 2nd, Nicholas Price was arrested and charged with vandalism. His bond was set at $10,000.
