28-year-old Chelsea Kalk was charged with driving under the influence after drinking at Hooters and being stopped at a sign for just a little too long.
On September 9th, officers noticed a gray SUV stopped at the intersection of 2nd Street and Woodland Street. They observed that the vehicle had been stopped at the sign for an extended period of time, so they pulled up beside and asked driver Chelsea Kalk if she needed assistance. Kalk told authorities that she was waiting on her boyfriend.
Kalk’s speech was slurred when she spoke to officers, so they began a traffic stop and told her to stay still. A closer view of Kalk’s person showed that her eyes were glassy along with her slurred speech, and she admitted to having drinks with friends at Hooters about two hours earlier. Kalk consented to field sobriety tests and performed poorly on each provided, and she submitted a breathalyzer test that resulted in a 0.205 blood alcohol content reading.
Chelsea Kalk was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. She was later freed on pre-trial release.
