Woman reportedly stabs boyfriend & leaves hospital before speaking with authorities

32-year-old Samantha Wade was charged with attempted criminal homicide after a witness had to transport her boyfriend to Vandy with a stab wound in his chest.

On September 17th, Samantha Wade stabbed her boyfriend Derrick Owen in the middle of the chest with a sharp object that was consistent with a knife blade. The stab wound that Owen received was approximately 1″ to 1.5″ wide and penetrated the “heart sack”. The wound was in the middle of the chest. Metro Nashville Midtown detectives obtained the video surveillance containing the intersection of 11th Avenue and Summit Avenue where the incident occurred. Witnesses who were in the vicinity observed Samantha Wade in the driver sear before the stabbing took place and afterward, but said they saw no other person in the car.

Wade and Owen were parked behind one of the witnesses’ vehicle. Owen was standing outside of Wade’s vehicle and screaming “I can’t breathe” and “call 911”. The witness gave Owen a ride to Vanderbilt and Wade followed them in her vehicle. After arriving at the hospital, Owen said “get her out of her” referring to Wade, who left the location before speaking with the police. Witnesses told officers that both Owen and Wade were “argumentative” and that he was making a scene. It was noted that Wade and Owen are in a romantic relationship and have a history of multiple domestic-related incidents in the past.

Samantha Wade was arrested and charged with attempted criminal homicide, No bond was set at this time pending a required DNA test.
