31-year-old Rodnea Mason was charged with aggravated assault when a woman and two witnesses told authorities she strangled her ex in a fight over an air conditioner that started while they were on a porch listening to music.
On August 21st, Metro Nashville Officers arrived at 2422 26th Avenue in response to a domestic disturbance, and they made contact with Tiffany Mcelrath. Mcelrath told officers that she had previously been in a relationship with Rodnea Mason. Mclerath advised the two were listening to music on the porch of 2435 25th Avenue North when they got into an argument over an air conditioner at their home.
Mason went over to the AC and tried to pull it from the window while Mcelrath blocked her by standing in front of it. Mason pushed her to the ground and proceeded to strangle her. Mcelrath told the police that she was afraid of losing consciousness but her daughter and a mutual friend pulled Mason from her before she did. Both witnesses told officers that Mason was using both hands to strangle Mcelrath and she also sustained injuries to corroborate that.
Rodnea Mason was arrested and charged with aggravated assault by strangulation. She is jailed in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
