33-year-old Vonzell Bryant was charged with kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, criminal contempt for order of protection violation, and aggravated burglary after he followed his ex into her home and trapped her with a knife.
On September 23rd, officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at 2553 Bethwood Avenue. When they arrived, Kimberly Sneed told officers that her ex-boyfriend, who she just recently had an order of protection placed against because he threw a rock through her car windshield and smashed her phone, was waiting at her house when she came home to gather some things.
She also told them that Vonzell followed her into the house and grabbed a knife, and blocked the doorway preventing her from leaving. He then pointed the knife at her while backing her into a corner, and told her he was going to kill himself and make her watch. He then started to stab himself and held the knife to his neck, which gave Kimberly time to escape.
On October 6th, Vonzell Bryant was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, criminal contempt for violation of an order of protection, kidnapping, and aggravated burglary. He is currently in jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
