Felon strangles and punches mother of his child over unknown caller

28-year-old Gary Anthony was charged with aggravated burglary and felon in possession of a handgun after making death threats to his child’s mother and getting caught by police in her apartment with a gun.

On October 4th, Metro Nashville Police were dispatched to 231 Susannah Drive, Skyview Apartments. Alexandria Dady stated she was in the process of moving in and the father of her 5-month-old, Gary Anthony, was helping her. After moving several items, Alexandria went to lie down in her bedroom when her phone rang. Gary became upset because he did not recognize the number and strangled her with both hands.

She stated she lost consciousness for a brief period of time and Gary hit her multiple times in the back of the head. Alexandria was able to push him out of the apartment and locked the door, which Gary then kicked down and entered once again. He shoved her and told her he was going to kill her. She noticed he had his M&P .40 handgun in his pocket. Gary then exited the apartment in a car with his mother.

On October 14th, Metro Nashville Police Officers responded to a domestic call at Skyview Apartments involving Gary Anthony. Police were given permission to search the apartment which is where they found Gary hiding in the back bedroom. Alexandria then gave additional permission for them to search her bedroom where officers found a pistol hidden in a laundry basket. Gary admitted to officers that the weapon was his. Gary was on probation and had been found guilty of kidnapping in 2018 and aggravated assault in 2016.

Gary Anthony was arrested and charged with especially aggravated burglary and felon in possession of a handgun. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $85,000 bond.
