Felon with stolen handgun overheard: “I’m waiting for him to come out, so I can shoot him”

37-year-old Michael Wilson was charged with theft of a firearm, evading arrest, and felon possessing a firearm after an anonymous caller told police they had seen him in dark clothing and a ski mask and heard him say he was going to shoot someone.

On September 30th, Metro Nashville Police Officers were dispatched to South 4th Street and Fatherland Street in regard to a black male, wearing a ski mask, black shirt, shoes, and blue jeans. The caller stated the man was holding a black and tan handgun and they had overheard him say “I’m waiting for him to come out, so I can shoot him.” The individual also advised police the man had been in a fight earlier and returned to the location.

Upon arrival at the CWA Apartments on 200 South 4th Street, Officers Lauton and Smith noticed a man matching the above description. As police approached, Michael Wilson began to walk away and when ordered to stop, ran from them. Officers spotted him walking near 316 South 4th Street and then retraced the path he had taken. During the canvass, they discovered a fully loaded black handgun with a round chambered, hammer cocked and safety off, discarded next to a porch. The FNH FNX-45 handgun had been reported stolen from 2712 Lausanne Drive in 2018. Wilson was convicted of felony drug possession in a school zone in 2008.

Michael Wilson was arrested and charged with theft of a firearm, evading arrest, and felon in possession of a firearm. His bond was set at $30,000.
