Intoxicated man strangles the mother of his child

25-year-old William Simmons was charged with aggravated assault and vandalism after a neighbor witnessed him attack his child’s mother in a parking lot.

On February 6th, Metro Nashville Police Department Officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at 138 Trails Circle, building 3, apartment 138. When the officers arrived they met with Ke’Shondra DeBow, who told officers that William Simmons came home intoxicated. She told him that it was inappropriate because there was a newborn baby in the house. She asked William to leave, but he instead started throwing things in the residence and smashed one Ke’Shondra’s phones on the ground and took the other. Police noted the shattered phone in her possession.

On August 24th, MNPD Officers reported to the residence again. William came to the house to get a pair of shoes that Ke’Shandra’s mother purchased for him. They got into another argument when William cursed at her and pulled her out of the apartment. She reported that William threw her against a nearby car and strangled her to the point that she could not breathe, but did not lose consciousness. A witness from the building across the street came outside when they heard the screaming and told officers that William left shortly after they came out.

On October 12, William Simmons was arrested and charged with vandalism of $1,000 or less and aggravated assault with strangulation. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $16,000 bond.
