Man accuses girlfriend of spending his money and beats her

28-year-old Douglas Hutton was charged with domestic assault and interference with a 911 call after he attacked his girlfriend and snatched her phone when she attempted to contact authorities.

On July 5th, Kyla Cunningham flagged down Metro Nashville Police Officers at 2321 25th Avenue North. She claimed the incident occurred at 907 30th Avenue North and she drove to this location to escape her boyfriend, Douglas Hutton.

She told officers Hutton had not slept because he had partied all night. He became angry because he believed she spent $2,000 of his money. Kyla tried to explain to her boyfriend she did not take his money, but he grew more upset. She attempted to call the police, but as soon as the call went through he took the phone out of her hand and started beating her. Police note she had noticeable injuries on her head and face. A warrant was then put out for Hutton.

On October 13th, Douglas Hutton was arrested and charged with domestic assault causing bodily injury and interference with a 911 call. He was released on a $4,000 bond.
