31-year-old Wilber Umana was charged with vandalism and setting fire to personal property or land when video footage showed him pour a liquid all over his recent ex-girlfriend’s car before setting it ablaze.
On September 11th, Roy Watson with the Nashville Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at 260 Cumberland Bend Road near the Mental Health Cooperative. Upon Watson’s arrival, he observed the burned remains of a 4-door sedan and a small red plastic gas can sitting in front of the car. The vehicle owner, Rosa Garcia, was at the scene and stated that she had recently ended her relationship with Wilber Umana and he had been calling and texting her making threats to kill her.
Video footage was obtained and showed a 4-door sedan had pulled next to Garcia’s vehicle. Wilber Umana was shown exiting the vehicle and retrieving a red container out of his vehicle then pouring a liquid over Garcia’s vehicle and igniting it on fire. Umana then got back in his vehicle and left the scene.
On September 27th, Wilber Umana was arrested and charged with vandalism more than $2,500 and setting fire to personal property or land. His bond was set at $6,000.
