57-year-old Maurice Bradford was charged with aggravated assault after a man said he pointed a revolver and fired two shots at him in the Chippington Towers parking lot. Bradford said the man came at him with a brick.

On September 30th, Metro Nashville Police officers were dispatched to Chippington Towers located at 94 Berkley Drive in reference to a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Ricky Shaw and Montez Drake, who had called authorities. Shaw stated he was leaning on his car outside, smoking a cigarette when Maurice Bradford approached him and pointed a black revolver with a brown handle at him. Bradford told Shaw he was going to shoot him, so Shaw proceeded to knock the gun out of his hand, and it fired. When Shaw ran toward the apartment building, Bradford picked up the weapon and fired another round in his direction.

Shaw stated there was a brief scuffle before the police were called and Bradford fled to his apartment. Drake advised police he saw the brown handle sticking out of Bradford’s pocket, but he did not witness him point it at Shaw but did hear two shots fired. Bradford stated he went outside because he heard there was a fight going on and Shaw immediately came at him with a brick, trying to hit him. Bradford denied having a firearm even though police found a bullet casing around the area Shaw said the second shot was fired. Bradford also had scratches on his knuckles consistent with getting a weapon knocked from his hand. Due to witness statements and physical evidence, the police found probable cause to take Bradford into custody.

Maurice Bradford was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
