39-year-old Kortney Ball was charged with aggravated assault after he strangled his ex-girlfriend because she asked him to turn off his cell phone.
On September 9th, officers responded to a call about a domestic disturbance that occurred at 1313 South Hampton Court. The officers met with the ex-girlfriend, McKaila Garnett, who told officers that he had come home earlier that morning and woke her up so she could move her foot so he could also get in the bed and sleep.
After she moved her foot, she asked Kortney to turn his phone off which upset him and led him to jump on her. Kortney then strangled her with both hands for about two minutes and started punching her in the face, giving her multiple scratches and cuts. Then he grabbed her by the hair and started swinging her around the room.
On October 11th, Kortney Ball was arrested and charged with aggravated assault by strangulation. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
