52-year-old Calvin Reams was charged with domestic assault for reportedly punching his ex-girlfriend multiple times in the face after a disagreement in an encampment of unhoused people.

On October 23rd, Metro Nashville Police Officers responded to reports of a domestic incident at 803 Division Street, where they made contact with Aris Crazy Bull and Calvin Reams. Aris stated she and Calvin just recently ended their relationship of five years and he became upset with her while they were staying in an encampment of unhoused people. She told police a verbal altercation arose during which Calvin punched her in the face multiple times. She also reported that in defense, she pushed back and hit him. Officers noted Aris had a visible laceration.

Calvin told officers that while he was sleeping at the encampment, Aris got angry and punched him in the eye for no known reason. He then gathered his things and walked down 8th Avenue South with Aris. He claimed they were getting along after the incident. Officers reported Calvin had obvious redness in his eyes. When asked about the mark on her mouth, Calvin claimed she probably injured herself because she behaves “crazy” when she is intoxicated. He denied assaulting Aris and claimed he didn’t see how she got the injury. Police deemed Calvin the primary aggressor.

Calvin Reams was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $2,000 bond.
