Man with gun harasses ex; attempts to hop into back seat of car while she is parked

42-year-old Robert Arnett was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism after he harassed his ex-lover, pulled a gun on her, and hit her car with his multiple times.

On October 15th, Nashville Police officers received a statement from Emily Carey who advised that she and Robert Arnett had previously been in a sexual relationship until July/August when she told him she did not wish to have contact with him anymore. She stated that he continued to harass and call her despite her wishes. Emily told officers that she was at Love Market Tobacco and Beer Store sitting in her vehicle when Robert suddenly appeared and attempted to enter the rear passenger door.

When he realized the door was locked he began hitting the window and then moved to the front passenger window, pulled out a revolver, and started tapping on the window with it. Emily advised that she was in fear for her life so she drove off. Witnesses stated that Robert began walking behind her vehicle, yelling, cursing, and holding something in his right hand. He then got in his vehicle, drove up behind Emily who had driven to the area of the Fifth Third Bank, and began smashing into her vehicle with his. She advised that he pushed her vehicle around in circles in the parking lot and hit her multiple times. Robert then fled down Bell Road, possibly towards Nolensville Pike, but officers were unable to locate him upon arrival. Emily did not receive any bodily injuries but the damage to her vehicle appeared to be in excess of $2,500.

On October 26th, Robert Arnett was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and Vandalism over $2,500. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $120,000 bond.
