Woman gets away with stolen battery-booster-box via bicycle

31-year-old Afton Broderick was charged with criminal trespassing and burglary after she was found asleep in a tent, without permission, on private property.

On September 6th, video surveillance footage at White Bridge Auto Wash captured a person arrive at 6:30 a.m. while the business was closed. The person, Afton Broderick, opened an unlocked door marked “Employees Only” and entered the office.

Cameras show Broderick removed a battery booster box from the office and left on bicycle. She returned on September 8th and interacted with several employees that she realized recognized her and fled the scene, leaving her bicycle at a nearby gas station. Employee and witness Latisha Campbell was able to identify Broderick out of a photo lineup after and video surveillance. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

On October 8th, Metro Nashville Police reported to the area of Hapwood and Davidson to a property owned by Downey Management Group, to look for a nearby “homeless camp.” Officers walked into the woodline passed a large visible “no trespassing” sign. They located a tent and observed Broderick sleeping inside. She was woken up and safely taken into custody for outstanding warrants and trespassing.

Afton Broderick was arrested and charged with burglary and trespassing. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $5,250 bond.
