Boyfriend charged with assault; woman files report with swollen lip and missing fingernails

28-year-old Rashad Pinckney was charged with aggravated assault when he struck his girlfriend in the face and strangled her, causing visible injury, during an argument at his residence.

On August 4th of 2019, Porscha Carter filed a report with the Metro Nashville Police Department. Carter stated she and Rashad Pinckney were at his residence when an argument erupted. Pinckney reportedly struck Carter in the face with his hand, then proceeded to get on top of her and wrap his hands around her neck. Carter told police she had difficulty breathing while she was being strangled but did not lose consciousness.

Per the affidavit, Pinckney then dragged her out of the residence. She stated during the incident she feared for her life. Carter also told officers that her throat was sore and she had trouble swallowing. Metro Nashville Police noted there were scratches on Carter, she had a swollen lip, five of Carter’s fingernails were missing, and she had discoloration around her neck.

On November 14th, 2020, Rashad Pinckney was arrested and charged with aggravated assault by strangulation. He was later released on a $6,000 bond.
