Father charged with child abuse after girls say he hit one with a belt, attempted to smother another

38-year-old Robert Eskew was charged with two counts of child abuse when a woman called police after their 13-year-old daughters told her he had hit one girl with a belt and dragged the other by her hair before attempting to smother her.

On November 17th, Metro Nashville Police officers were dispatched to 1013 Sharpe Avenue in reference to a domestic assault called in by Emily Fauor. She told officers that she was Facetimed by her 13-year-old daughters who told her their father, Robert Eskew, had assaulted them. When officers arrived, they made contact with the juvenile victims. The girls stated Eskew got upset with them when they did not follow his school work rules.

They told officers that Eskew threw a shoe at one of them, dragged her by the hair, then covered her nose and mouth which caused breathing to be difficult. The other juvenile stated he struck her with a belt multiple times, leaving marks on her thigh and forearm. She also told officers that at some point she tried to turn away and her top lip was cut. Officers took photos of the injuries. Eskew denied hitting the girls.

Robert Eskew was arrested and charged with two counts of child abuse. He was later released on a $5,000 bond.
