20-year-old Jade Mullen was charged with aggravated assault after she admitted to striking the father of her child with a metal flashlight multiple times in the face because of their relationship troubles.
On November 17th, Metro Nashville Police officers arrived at the Mapco located at 1090 Murfreesboro Pike. Authorities observed Ricky Dale Smith holding Jade Mullen’s hands. Officers noted there was blood dripping down Smith’s face from clearly visible cuts on his forehead and nose. Smith told officers he and Mullen were arguing then she got upset and pulled into the Mapco parking lot.
Smith stated when they pulled into the parking lot, she struck him multiple times with a metal flashlight. Mullen admitted to “beating” Smith because she was upset about the status of their relationship, and was quoted saying, “It’s my fault.” She did not give officers any further detail about the situation. Officers recovered a bloodied flashlight from the ground by the passenger side of the vehicle. Due to the statements of both parties and the evidence found, Mullen was determined to be the primary aggressor.
In April of 2016, Jade Mullen was reported as a 16-year-old missing teen, last seen in the company of Ricky Dale Smith. She was located safely in May of 2016, in the state of Alabama. Per the affidavit, Jade Mullen and Ricky Dale Smith had a child together.
Jade Mullen was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is currently jailed in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
