41-year-old Rakeem Mcclure was charged with aggravated assault after police say he attacked and strangled his daughter because he thought she stole his money.
On November 17th, Metro Nashville Police responded to a domestic disturbance at Abbington Heights located at 1105 Hickory Hollow Terrace. Officers say they arrived and observed Ashanti Mcclure and her daughter standing outside. Ashanti stated she was from Chicago and was staying with her father Rakeem Mcclure.
According to the affidavit, Rakeem kicked in the door to Ashanti’s room and started to hit, smack, and yell at her while accusing her of stealing his money. He called her a “bitch, hoe, you a slut like your mama!” While attempting to leave with her daughter, Ashanti was pulled back by her hair. Rakeem then grabbed her with both hands around her neck, proceeded to strangle her, and called her a “bitch and hoe”. Officers observed lacerations on Ashanti’s left side of her neck and left eye. Rakeem was deemed the primary aggressor and was taken into custody.
Rakeem Mcclure was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. He was later released on a $4,000 bond.
