Man charged with assault tells officers sobbing girlfriend is “just being a baby”

19-year-old Jeffrey Hardney was charged with domestic assault causing bodily harm after he punched his girlfriend in the face and told police that she “was just being a baby.” She was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s for evaluation.

On October 27th, Metropolitan Nashville Police were dispatched to the residence of Jeffrey Hardney and his live-in girlfriend at 631 Murfreesboro Pike. Per the report, officers could hear his girlfriend crying upon arrival. Contact with Jeffrey was made and he advised that they had been in an altercation and she “was just being a baby.” Officers reported that she had a small scratch on her left eyebrow and her eyes were visibly swollen.

His girlfriend advised that she and Jeffrey had a physical altercation but she could not remember why. She stated that he shoved her down, held his hand over her mouth, punched her in the face, and then began kicking her. She was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s for a medical evaluation. When she was offered counseling and shelter she refused, saying that she would stay with her mother. Her mother arrived and advised that they would file an order of protection once she was released from the hospital.

Jeffery Hardney was arrested and charged with domestic assault causing bodily harm. He was released on a $10,000 bond.
