24-year-old Kenchisa Carter was charged with domestic assault and vandalism after he damaged his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle and punched her in the head when she refused to give him her keys.

On June 29th, Metro Nashville Police responded to a domestic disturbance and spoke with Alyssa Moreland. She stated she came from Memphis to visit her ex-boyfriend and stay the night with him. She said they were hanging out in her car outside of his grandmother’s apartment located at 1040 North Dupont Avenue.

According to the affidavit, they began to argue and he demanded her keys. She stated they were in the driver’s side door and she refused to give them to him. This made him angry and he reached across her in an attempt to grab them, but cut his hand open on a peanut can that was in the door. He proceeded to punch the vent in her vehicle and broke it. He then demanded to be taken to Skyline Medical Center and refused to get out of the vehicle when they arrived.

She then drove to his grandmother’s house and stopped at a Marathon gas station located at 234 West Trinity Lane. When they stopped, he again demanded her keys. She refused and he punched her in the side of the head. She finally got him back to his grandmother’s apartment and he kicked her in the side on his way out. She then immediately left the apartment complex and called the police. Carter was no longer at the scene when officers arrived, but due to Moreland’s visible injuries, he was determined to be the primary aggressor.

On November 2nd, Kenchisa Carter was arrested and charged with domestic assault and vandalism. He was later released on a $3,000 bond.
