38-year-old Douglas Crawley was charged with domestic assault and 3 counts of aggravated assault after his girlfriend said he got angry she didn’t get him cocaine and her children and niece claimed he threatened their lives with an ax.

On August 24th, Metro Nashville Police officers responded to reports that Douglas Crawley was threatening people with an ax at 1550 9th Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Cassandra Alexandra who told them Douglas was her boyfriend. She reported they were arguing because she did not get him gas or cocaine. This upset Crawley and he pushed her down outside on the street during the altercation, causing her to scrape her knees. She claimed he did not threaten her with an ax.

Officers then spoke with Cassandra’s niece Teyonace McHaney. Teyonce stated that while her aunt and Douglas were arguing, he came inside, grabbed an ax, and threatened to hurt Teyonce and her cousins if they approached him.

Cassandra’s son, who was at the residence, told officers that Douglas entered his room and grabbed his ax then told the boy, “I’ll kill you with your own weapon bitch.” Cassandra’s daughter corroborated that story and added that she had called someone who was not at the residence, asking them to send the police. Douglas Crawley has an extensive criminal background beginning when he was a juvenile.

On November 10th, Douglas Crawley was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic assault. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
