43-year-old Ronnie Gregory was charged with burglary of a motor vehicle, criminal trespass, resisting arrest, and public intoxication after he was spotted hitting trucks with a metalic object near the Music City Center.
On November 18th, Metro Nashville Police were on patrol near 8th Avenue South and McGavock Street when someone flagged them down. The passerby told them there was a male who could be attempting to break into the Music City Center and had been looking through and hitting trucks with a crowbar. Police were unable to find any damage to the Music City Center, but found Ronnie Gregory near the intersection of 8th Avenue South and Korean Veterans Boulevard. Gregory was found holding a wooden walking stick and a metal rebar rod and was asked to put them down, which he did.
While police were interrogating Gregory, he fled on foot to a private parking lot of the Westin Hotel, at 807 Clark Place. Police easily caught up to him, as he tripped and hit his face on a concrete curb. When the police tried to take Gregory into custody, he started resisting by putting his hands under himself and refused to be handcuffed. Once police had him in custody, they called for the Nashville Fire Department to transport Gregory to Nashville General Hospital. While he was at the hospital, Gregory admitted to taking methamphetamine and having paranoid thoughts. He also admitted that he did not mean to enter the trucks and take the walking stick he had with him. Police checked the area and found multiple trucks that had been gone through. Police then verified that Westin Hotel had a valid trespass waiver.
Ronnie Gregory was arrested and charged with burglary of a motor vehicle, criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, and public intoxication. He was later freed on pretrial release.
