26-year-old Treyvarious Verge was charged with aggravated assault when he admitted to driving off in his girlfriend’s truck while someone was hanging onto the door after she reportedly attempted to get the keys from him.
On November 28th, Metro Nashville Police officers reported to 1408 Rosedale Avenue in response to a person who had been run over by a vehicle. When officers arrived, they made contact with Chityka Fentress, who told them she had been hit by a blue Nissan Frontier. Fentress suffered from visible injury and was taken to the hospital for treatment. Officers spoke with the owner of the vehicle and other witnesses. They all agreed that Fentress was holding onto the side of the vehicle when Treyvarious Verge drove off. The owner of the vehicle and her boyfriend, Verge, live in the vehicle together. The owner stated she and Verge got into an argument and Fentress’ son guided the couple outside so they could attempt to come to a resolution.
According to the affidavit, Fentress came outside in an attempt to get the keys from Verge and keep him from leaving. Fentress told officers that his girlfriend approached her and said Verge would not return her keys. According to Fentress, that is when she proceeded to confront Verge and ask for the keys back, but he refused. At this time, Fentress stated she reached inside of the vehicle to retrieve the keys and Verge started the vehicle, then drove away with Fentress still hanging on. Verge returned to the scene with his mother and was discovered to have an outstanding warrant. He refused to speak with officers after being read his Miranda Rights. Once inside of the patrol car, he admitted that he drug her along while she held onto the vehicle, but told officers he did not mean to hurt Fentress. He also stated she was able to hold on until around Rosedale and Douglas, then let go.
Treyvarious Verge was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
