Nashville man attempts suicide by setting his apartment on fire over “girl problems”

49-year-old Jamison Mcintyre was charged with aggravated arson after police say he set fire to his apartment knowing it was occupied, barricaded himself inside, and said he was trying to commit suicide because of girl problems.

On November 24th, Metro Nashville Fire Investigator Roy Watson responded to reports of a multi-family structure fire at the Polo Park Apartments located on 100 Jackson Downs Boulevard. Upon entering Unit 1011, a man was discovered and transported to Vanderbilt for treatment.

According to the report, an investigation showed the fire was intentional. The man, later identified as Jamison Mcintyre, stated he barricaded himself inside of the apartment and started a fire in an attempt to commit suicide. He said he knew the building was occupied when he started the fire and that he was having girl problems so he wanted to end his life.

On December 10th, Jamison Mcintyre was arrested and charged with aggravated arson. He is currently jailed in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
