28-year-old Angela Shoemate was charged with domestic assault after she admitted to throwing a punch at her boyfriend’s face and pushing him when he let her back into the house during an argument.
On December 2nd, Metro Nashville Police officers arrived at the residence of 266 Hickory Hollow Terrace in response to a domestic disturbance call. Upon arrival, they made contact with Latrelle Lee and Angela Shoemate. Lee advised he had been in a verbal argument with Shoemate, while they were on the bed. Shoemate claimed Lee pushed her off the bed, but Lee claimed she happened to trip because they were both getting out of the bed at the same time.
Lee stated he wanted her to leave so he could start working when she became angry and threw a punch at his nose, while he was sitting down and preparing for work. According to the affidavit, Latrelle carried Shoemate outside the residence as she flailed her arms and possibly hit herself on the way out. He eventually let her back inside and she pushed him, to which he responded back in self-defense. After he pushed her, she retreated into a separate room to call the police. Due to Shoemate’s statement matching Lee’s, and her admittance to pushing Lee after he let her back in, Shoemate was deemed the primary aggressor.
Angela Shoemate was arrested and charged with domestic assault. She was later released on a $1,000 bond.
