Woman punches grandmother while on the phone with police dispatch

21-year-old Alyssa Berry was charged with domestic assault after reportedly getting into a fight with her grandmother leaving multiple bruises on her right arm and right side of her neck.

On December 5th, Metro Nashville Police officer Jarret Sonnenberg was dispatched to a domestic disturbance call located at 922 Roosevelt Avenue. Upon arrival, contact was made with Belinda Venable who stated that her granddaughter Alyssa Berry got into a verbal argument with her mother which made her angry. Belinda told her that she either needed to calm down or leave the house, which made Alyssa more upset and she left the room.

According to the report, Belinda also stated that she called police dispatch when Alyssa left the room. When she came back, Alyssa asked her who she was on the phone with. When Alyssa realized she was calling the police, she began to assault her by punching her in the right arm and on the side of her neck. After the assault, Alyssa left the location. The officer noted that Belinda had several bruises on her right arm and on the side of her neck.

On December 9th, Alyssa Berry was arrested and charged with domestic assault. She was later released on a $2,000 bond.
