33-year-old Heather Cooper was charged with aggravated assault after police say she wrestled with her boyfriend and hit him in the head with a glass candle.
On November 30th, Metro Nashville Police responded to a domestic dispute at the residence of 914 Winthorne Drive. Upon arrival, Jonathan Yarbrough stated he and his girlfriend, Heather Cooper, got into a verbal argument that escalated to a physical altercation. He reported Heather continuously hit him and refused to stop, resulting in him pushing and holding her on the ground to restrain her. Even though he held her down, she kept beating him and bashed his head with the glass candle she grabbed off the table.
According to Heather, they were arguing about money while they were in bed when they started shoving each other. She claimed Jonathan pushed her off the bed, climbed on top of her, and bit the back of her shoulder. She said she elbowed him to get him off but when he would not let go, she grabbed the first thing she could and smashed it on his head. Due to the severity of Jonathan’s injuries, Heather was deemed the primary aggressor.
Heather Cooper was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. She was later released on a $15,000 bond.
