Antioch man found with 8 cell phones, 1/2 lb marijuana, & $5200 cash at Nashville Airport

23-year-old Jermontez Siante Bellafant is charged with felony drug possession with intent to distribute after Airport Police located a half-pound of marijuana inside his bagging at the Nashville Airport, along with 8 cell phones.

On February 10th, Nashville Airport Police were using K-9 Havoc to open-air sniff 3 bags from Southwest Airlines flight #3276 from Los Angeles, California. According to an arrest warrant, the dog sniffed out a large grey bag with the name “Jer Ballafant” on the bag tag. Police say the bag had a “strong odor of raw marijuana” coming from it.

Authorities then pulled the luggage onto the bag belt then observed a male grab the bag that K9 Havoc alerted to and attempt to leave the airport with it. Detectives then made contact with Jermontez Siante Bellafant. Mr. Bellafant was also in possession of a small backpack when police made contact with him.

After further investigation, Detectives searched Mr. Bellafant’s luggage and found six cell phones and forty-five empty packets of commercial marijuana packaging to be used for resale. The police had to get a search warrant for his backpack to which they found 0.54 pounds (244.94 grams) of marijuana along with other cellphones. Mr. Bellafant also had $5,200 of U.S. Currency on him which was seized as narcotics proceeds.

On February 10th, Siante Bellafant was charged with felony drug possession with intent to resale, and is currently free on pre-trial release.
