Man charged with assaulting pregnant girlfriend, who he reportedly said ‘belonged to the streets’

27-year-old Daniel Kottman is charged with domestic assault after reportedly grabbing his pregnant girlfriend around the throat and telling her she “belonged to the streets” during an argument that ended up in a trash chute at 505 Nashville.

On January 31st, Metro Nashville Police officers were dispatched to a domestic call at 505 Church Street. Upon arrival, police made contact with the victim and Daniel ‘Dan’ Kottman. The victim, who is the pregnant girlfriend of Kottman, stated to police that Daniel was upset that she went out with his friends. He began to call her names and specifically said that she belongs to the streets. She reports that Daniel told her that she needs to have an abortion.

A report from the incident states Daniel then grabbed her by the throat and covered her mouth with his hand to keep her quiet. The victim states that she ran out into the hallway and into a trash chute where he then put his hands around her throat and mouth gain. Police documented cuts and welts on the victim and a laceration on her nose.

Daniel Kottman was arrested and charged with domestic assault. He is currently free in lieu of a $1,500 bond.
