34-year-old Robert Pride and 31-year-old Mark Johnson both bailed from a car they were fleeing in after police located it. They decided to make a run for it on foot. The pair was apprehended after a “short foot pursuit” by MNPD, as they were unable to outrun the officers, despite their best efforts.
On February 8th, Metro Nashville Police officers were dispatched to 5116 Bay Overlook Drive in Hermitage for a reported fight. As officers approached the scene, they noticed a Gray Ford Taurus leaving the scene of the area, which was the same description given for the vehicle related to the fight call. The vehicle made a quick turn into a driveway near S. New Hope Road where it drove past the end of the driveway and into a backyard where it went dark.
According to the affidavit, the police drove by the residence, and on the second loop, they noticed the vehicle attempting to pull out onto the road but quickly reversed back into the yard and turned the lights back off. Metro Officers told Driver Robert Pride, and passenger Mark Johnson, to exit the vehicle. They both began to unfasten their seatbelts when Mark Johnson fled the scene on foot while Robert drove a short distance from the scene before being stopped. Both then ran a short distance on foot, before being apprehended by officers.
Robert Pride and Mark Johnson were both booked into the Metro Nashville Jail. Johnson was ROR’d on a single evading arrest charge, while Robert Pride sat for a few days before posting his $6500 bond.
