30-year-old Ralphiel Thomas is currently held in lieu of a $110,000 bond, after police at Nashville Airport located 1,633 15 & 40 mg Opana pills mixed among a bag of Wild Berry Skittles in his suitcase.
Nashville Airport Police, aided by K9 Havoc, noticed a bag on a flight from Michigan that reportedly had an odor of marijuana from an incoming flight on March 20th. Police observed the bag as it was placed on the baggage claim belt, and a Detroit man, identified as Ralphiel Thomas, age 30, claimed the bag and attempted to leave the airport.
Detectives made contact with Thomas, who they later found out was free on a pre-trial release program and was not allowed to leave the state of Michigan. He agreed to let authorities search his luggage, which is where investigators located a large bag of Wild Berry Skittles. Mixed with the skittles were narcotics in the form of orange and white pills.
The 200 round white pills were identified as Opana 15mg pills, and the 1,433 orange pills were identified as Opana 40mg pills, both schedule II narcotics. . Ralphiel Thomas was booked into the Metro Nashville jail, charged with two counts of felony drug possession with intent to distribute, one a Class B, the other a Class C due to the quantity. He remains jailed in lieu of a $110,000 bond.
NOTE: Though he is identified as “Ralphiel Thomas” on his identification, voting records, Michigan court paperwork, Memphis bookings, and local charging documents, DCSO/MNPD both have him booked as “Thomas Rolphiel” in the CJIS system for Nashville.
