Metro Police say 31-year-old Brittany Trice rear-ended a car in South Nashville, exited her vehicle, screamed at the other driver calling her a racist, yelled at passing by vehicles, then retrieved her 5-year-old daughter from her car and sat in the middle of traffic on the busy road for a few minutes in some weird act of defiance before fleeing the scene.
Just after 6 p.m. on April 20th, police responded to a vehicle crash near Blackman Rd. / Edmonson Pk. Monica Jaramillo says she was rear-ended by a car driven by Brittany Trice, who then began screaming at her after hitting her with her car, calling her a racist. There was an independent witness video of the incident, which also showed Trice screaming at cars passing by. At some point, Trice walked back to the vehicle she was driving and pulls her 5-year-old daughter from the car, returns to the middle of traffic, and sits down with her on the pavement of the busy road. After sitting for a period of time, she got back in the car with her daughter and fled the scene before police arrived.
A short time later, police located Trice, who drove around a shopping plaza before finally stopping, running her already flat tire up on a stop-block/curb of the parking lot. She was reported to be yelling and screaming and asked to speak to the officer away from everyone else. She agreed to perform field sobriety tests, on which police say she performed poorly.
Police advised her she was being taken into custody, at which time she went ‘dead weight’ then threw herself against a brick wall. She eventually admitted to drinking both wine and beer before driving and said she had been “partying” all night and wanted to know “how far back the blood draw went” when advised that a warrant had been obtained for her blood.
Brittany Danielle Trice was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail, charged with DUI, child endangerment, and leaving the scene of an accident. She is free on pre-trial release and scheduled to appear in court in June.
