Metro Police have charged 26-year-old Erika Bracht with driving under the influence, after they say she was responsible for a six-car pileup that shut down I-40 Westbound near mile marker 196 in the early hours of Wednesday morning, sending two people to the hospital.

Police say they found the 26-year-old crying and swaying as they approached her car, which left the roadway and struck the guard rail, resulting in five more vehicles crashing. She admitted to driving and stated she had “four beers” around 7 p.m., which was several hours prior to the wreck. Her social media, however, appears to detail the actual timestamps of her festivities, putting them much closer to the time of the wreck.

Bracht refused a breath test, and failed the standard field sobriety tests, according to officers. A night court commissioner signed a warrant for her blood, which was retrieved just after 3 a.m. at Metro General Hospital.

Erika M. Bracht, 26, was booked into the Metro Nashville Jail at 4:39 a.m. on 06/09, charged with driving under the influence. She was freed on pre-trial release at 6:33 a.m. She is scheduled to appear in court in July.
